The Galbiati Project team with Maurizio and Federico Galbiati and the arch. Erica Burgi has renovated this small but charming apartment with a large terrace that opens at the foot of the matterhorn, at Breuil in Val d’Aosta.
Each environment has been designed and studied to combine aesthetics and functionality in reduced spaces.
The objective-challenge was the client’s request, that is to have a rustic design house using traditional and recovery materials modernised in the installation, emphasised by the scenography of the lighting and mirrored surfaces.
The rigorousness of the existing spatial system has been combined with the linearity of the lights and movable vertical surfaces.
Access to the different spaces is concealed by sliding surfaces of different material nature.
Despite the small size, the use of materials such as mirrors, wood, fabrics, wallpaper, together with the furnishings and decorative complements, make this place open to the mountains and nature, giving a sense of openness and amplifying their perception.
Some works of art selected by Oxana Maleeva of Artapart have been included inside the apartment, in a continuous dialogue with the surrounding landscape.
