Vico Magistretti has revolutionized the way of imagining the classic abat-jour. In fact, the components of the latter are reduced to a minimum, leaving a shape that is revealed in simple Euclidean elements, proportionate and harmonious. Atollo was conceived in 1977 and has become a design icon, the archetype of the table lamp, also winning the Compasso d’Oro in 1979. It is composed of simple geometries – the cylinder, the cone and the hemisphere – and appears almost floating in the air thanks to the play of light and shadow it manages to create. The Atollo lamp is available in its traditional metal version – bronze and gold – and in many other more modern variants including white, black and glass. The Atollo lamp by Oluce is also part of the products displayed in our showroom in Viale Certosa 21 in Milan.
