Sacco was born in 1968, in the years of the cultural revolt, and embodies the spirit of nonconformism in its non-existent, changeable and ironic form. Rejecting the impositions of rigid forms, it was designed by the young architects Gatti, Paolini and Teodoro to express the creativity and freedom that reigned in the innovation of home furnishings of those years. Fifty years later, in an era like ours of environmental sustainability, Zanotta creates the new “Sacco goes Green” version with the principles of the circular economy and respect for the environment in order to achieve the “zero emissions” goal. Instead of expanded polystyrene balls, we now find micro-spheres of a bioplastic obtained from sugar cane and therefore biodegradable and compostable; the shell, on the other hand, which was in fabric or leather, is made of regenerated nylon thread obtained from fishing nets collected from the seabed, fabric scraps. From a cult object of modern design it has become one of the greatest expressions of Italian design, receiving a mention at the tenth Compasso d’Oro and in 1972 it was exhibited at the MOMA in NY and in many other important museums such as that of Paris, Prague, Berlin, Milan. and Denver. The Sacco armchair by Zanotta is part of the products displayed in our showroom in Viale Certosa 21 in Milan.
